What FinLab collects

FinLab does not create accounts, capture email or store the figures you enter. Every calculator runs in your browser, and your inputs are never sent to or stored by FinLab.

Shared links

A scenario link encodes the numbers and settings you choose in the URL. It does not include your name or email. Anyone with the link can see those scenario figures, so only share it with people you trust.

Advertising and cookies

FinLab shows ads through Google AdSense to keep the calculators and guides free. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve, measure and personalise ads based on your visits to this and other sites. That can involve your IP address, device identifiers, approximate location and browsing data. This advertising data is collected by Google and its partners, not by FinLab — FinLab does not receive those profiles, and they are not linked to anything you type into a calculator.

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on visits to FinLab and/or other sites on the internet. You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ad Settings, and you can read how Google uses information from sites that use its services in Google's advertising policy. Analytics and site operation

Hosting and delivery providers may process standard technical logs (such as IP address, browser type and pages requested) to operate and secure the site. FinLab does not use those logs to identify you personally or to rebuild calculator inputs.

Children

FinLab is aimed at adults making personal-finance decisions. It is not directed at children.

Privacy Act 2020

FinLab itself holds no personal information about you from calculator use, so there is nothing for FinLab to correct or delete on your behalf for those inputs. Data collected by Google for advertising is governed by Google's own policies linked above. If you have a privacy question about the site itself, use the contact page.

Changes

If how FinLab handles information changes in a material way, this page will be updated. The date below shows when the site content was last verified alongside the rules files.
